Introductory Assignments
During the first week of the semester, we spend time on the rules and how the class is set up. We work on User Names and passwords, accessing the server folder (where students store their documents) and letting the kids get used to using the lab computers. We also do a one day activity called All About My Name, that lets kids show what they know about computers.
Computer Users Bingo is an in class assignment that we do to get to know one another. If a student is absent for this assignment, then they will be excused for it and it won't be counted against them.
Beginning Checklist is the list of things that we learned the first few days of the semester. Students are to make sure they understand and know how to do everything on the list. Then initial and sign the bottom. These items are the basis of our class.
Throughout the semester, I will be giving the students a variety of "how to" pages. They are to be kept in a 3 prong paper/plastic folder - IN THE CLASSROOM. This is their "textbook" of instructions. At the end of the semester, they will receive a grade for having it complete and in order. The first paper I handed out was Getting Started on the Computer.
