Choosing Your People
You are going to choose two people who are heroes. They can be heroes to the larger society or historical, but you must be able to personally relate to them. You'll need to support your choices through research. Choose people who exhibit positive character traits.

It has to be a real person (not fictional) and is your personal hero. You must get the people you have chosen approved before continuing your research and project.

Here are some people you could research. This is just a starting place. Figure out which key words to use and spell the names correctly.

Definition of Hero - A hero is someone that you admire, someone you look up to, someone you would like to be like when you grow up. Choose people that you are proud of their accomplishments. You need to have at least three different sources of information about your person. This is a research project!

Wikipedia is a place you can start, but not use as a source. Google is a search engine, not a primary source of information. You can use other resources other than the Internet, check out a book from the library!

What will the Final Slide Show Look Like?
Example of Hero PPT created by Ms. Cook

You can use on your slides:

  • Photos

  • Clip art

  • Sounds and music

  • Video clips

  • Scanned Photos

  • Quotes

  • Text and information

  • Interviews

  • Animations and transitions

Title Slide -

Include your name and date of the project

Introduction Slide -

Use this slide to draw your audience into your presentation. It isn't a table of contents, but something exciting and make your audience want to see your production. You can use pictures, animations and sounds.

The slides about the people need to include (minimum):

  • Short biography - Include 4 - 5 facts about the person

  • One quote they made

  • Photos or movie

  • Why they are a hero to you

  • What positive character traits they represent

  • How do they demonstrate or symbolize heroic deeds by giving facts and information

  • A 5 point quiz for the audience based on information presented

People Slides -

Over several slides (at least 7-8 slides for each person), explain why you chose this person and what makes them special. This is the bulk of the presentation. You must list each of the characteristics that you have chosen on a separate slide. You have to give facts that support these characteristics.

Conclusion Slide -

Tie all your choices together with your reflections and comments. This is where you make a personal statement.

Quiz Slide -

For both of your heroes, you are going to create a 5 point quiz, for your audience, on each of your people to review and highlight the important points about them.

Resource Slide -

You must create one list of ALL the resources you used. You must have at least three resources per person. Wikipedia is not a valid resource.
