my Resume |
| Beginnings:
I was born at Whidbey Naval Station, a naval base in Oak Harbor on Whidbey Island. It is off the coast of the state of Washington near Seattle, in Island County. During my younger years, I attended Walter Knott grade school, only two blocks from Knott's Berry Farm. When I was in 8th grade we moved to Arizona, where I went to high school at Round Valley HS. |
| After High School:
In trying to figure out what to do with my life, I spent two years working in the hotel industry in Central California and Phoenix. Then I realized that I couldn't really get anywhere without a college education. I attended Northland Pioneer College near my brother in Show Low, Arizona. There I met my husband, spent 14 years acting and working with the theater department in musical theater and eventually became a member of the faculty for the college. I worked with the Snowflake Little Theater as an actor and director for several years, while serving on the Board of Directors. In between, I managed to have SIX children - all of whom are growing into wonderful people. |
| Being an Adult:
I graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff in 1994, having received my Elementary Education degree. I moved to New Mexico in 1995 and began teaching for Albuquerque Public Schools. With a K-8 degree, I could teach anything! I have taught Physical Science, Computer Literacy, Drama, Language Arts, Study Skills and Typing. For four years I taught at a middle school, then moved to the district level for two years. I worked with a cluster of schools (the size of most smaller districts) with their technology instruction. I presented at state and local conferences, taught summer institutes and worked with state-wide technology grant programs. |
| Traveling:
I have traveled extensively in the Southwest, some in the Northeast, a tiny bit in the East Coast and a few times out of the country. I have been to Kauai, Canada, Mexico and New York City. Several years ago I traveled to Belize for two weeks and to date, that is my highlight trip. Now I am a Delegation Leader for People to People Student Ambassadors. I have traveled with 40+ middle schoolers to the British Isles, Australia twice and France and Italy. I love exploring with students, they ask the BEST questions! |
| Where can you find me
now:
After completing my Master's Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Educational Technology from the University of New Mexico, I relocated to California. I am currently teaching computer technology classes at Willis Jepson MS in Vacaville, California. I am also the Webmaster, the second school site I have built. I also teach a video production/ web design class as an elective. We have a great time producing the daily announcements and creating movies about school life. I love being back in California, exploring beaches and the cities of San Francisco and Sacramento. Vacaville is about half way between the two cities. |
